Local Leagues: A staple of summer

Local leagues offer participants and spectators a chance to get outside for fresh air and old-fashioned fun that doesn't involve a TV or computer screen. Turn to the following resources for more information about the leagues available near you.

Clarke County Frederick County/Winchester Shenandoah County Warren County/Front Royal If you'd rather just watch, the Valley Baseball League comprises 12 teams playing in Northern and Southern Divisions. They play a 44-game schedule each summer.

The 2009 season marks the 48th year as an official NCAA sanctioned league and the 17th season as a wooden bat league. www.valleyleaguebaseball.com
