Federal student aid, loans and scholarships will be discussed at the free financial aid night sponsored by Shenandoah University and Lord Fairfax Community College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Halpin-Harrison Hall at Shenandoah University.

The Shenandoah Resource Conservation and Development Council will hold a "low-cost/no-cost on-farm energy improvements workshop" on Thursday from 8:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at James Madison University. The workshop focuses on "practical advice for electricity and fuel cost savings for poultry, dairy and greenhouse operations,". The cost is $10.

The New Market Chamber of Commerce will meet on Tuesday at noon at the Shenvalee Golf Resort.
Dr. John Jones, a research geographer, will give a free lecture on Friday at 7 p.m. at Lord Fairfax Community College.
L. Marquetta Mitchell, the Edward Jones financial adviser, will host a coffee club on Wednesday at 9 a.m. at 152 E. King St. The free, informal gathering offers an update on the stock market and the economy.
